Grok Imagine Pricing: X Subscription Plans, Video Access and Cost per Clip
Free, Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200 a month: which tier makes video, how the shared weekly pool works and what the xAI API charges per second.
Grok Imagine, xAI's image and video generator, has no plan of its own: since 12 October 2026 it is part of The X Subscription, which bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. The individual tiers are Free, Plus at $8 a month ($80 a year), Premium at $30 ($300 a year), Super at $100 ($1,000 a year) and Ultra at $200 ($2,000 a year), with Teams from $30 a seat. The fact that decides the choice for video: the pricing page's comparison table marks video generation from Premium up, so Plus at $8 makes Imagine images but not videos.
Grok Imagine pricing at a glance
Usage is expressed as a multiple of the Plus allowance; xAI does not publish what one unit buys in images or seconds of video.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly (per month) | Usage pool | Imagine video |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Limited | No (images limited) |
| Plus | $8 | $6.67 ($80 a year) | Base (1x) | No (images yes) |
| Premium | $30 | $25 ($300 a year) | 4x Plus | Yes |
| Super | $100 | $83.33 ($1,000 a year) | 15x Plus | Yes |
| Ultra | $200 | $166.67 ($2,000 a year) | 50x Plus | Yes |
| Teams | From $30 a seat | Not listed | 4x to 50x Plus, pooled | Yes |
Prices checked on 31 October 2026 on xAI's pricing page; the yearly prices come from xAI's X Subscription pricing documentation, which rounds them to $7, $25, $84 and $167 a month. Prices exclude taxes. Enterprise is priced on request.
What each plan includes
None of the plans states a video length, a resolution or a number of images or clips. The plan cards and comparison table only say which Grok features each tier unlocks and how big its usage pool is relative to Plus.
Free
- Limited AI usage, limited chat and agent requests.
- Image generation (Imagine) marked "Limited"; video generation not included.
- Standard X features: post, reply and follow.
Plus: $8 a month, or $80 billed yearly
- The base usage pool, shared across Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build.
- Imagine image generation included; video generation is marked as not included in the comparison table, although the plan card lists "Imagine" without saying images only.
- Grok API access (billed separately at API rates) and Cursor.
- X Premium features: checkmark, fewer timeline ads, creator tools, analytics.
Premium: $30 a month, or $300 billed yearly
- 4x the Plus usage pool.
- "Make stunning AI images and videos": the lowest tier with Imagine video in the comparison table.
- Latest Grok models, faster chat, Grok Bot, cloud agents, code hosting and AI code reviews.
- Ad-free scrolling on most X surfaces. xAI recommends this tier for new AI users.
Super: $100 a month, or $1,000 billed yearly
- 15x the Plus usage pool.
- Priority model access at peak times, which matters when video queues are busy.
Ultra: $200 a month, or $2,000 billed yearly
- 50x the Plus usage pool, the most of any individual tier.
- Earliest access to new products and models, and priority support.
Teams and Enterprise
- Teams starts at $30 a user a month, with usage from 4x to 50x Plus depending on the seat tier, pooled across the team, plus central billing, usage analytics, SSO and spend controls.
- Enterprise adds custom rate limits, invoicing, data residency and volume pricing on request.
What one clip costs
There is no published per-clip cost on any consumer plan. A video draws from the same weekly pool as chat, voice, Grok Bot and Cursor agents, and xAI does not say how much of the pool one clip uses, so the number of clips a plan buys depends on everything else the account does that week. The only per-clip prices xAI publishes are for its API, billed per second of video and separate from the subscription pool:
| xAI API model | 480p | 720p | 1080p | 6 s at 720p | 10 s at 720p |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| grok-imagine-video-1.5 | $0.08/s | $0.14/s | $0.25/s | $0.84 | $1.40 |
| grok-imagine-video | $0.05/s | $0.07/s | Not listed | $0.42 | $0.70 |
| grok-imagine-video-1.5-lite | $0.02/s | $0.03/s | $0.14/s | $0.18 | $0.30 |
Rates read from xAI's API pricing by our price radar on 30 October 2026; the price list covers clips from 1 to 15 seconds. The arithmetic is the per-second rate times the length. A 15-second 1080p clip on grok-imagine-video-1.5 costs $3.75, while the lite model makes a 6-second 720p clip for 18 cents. Paid plans include API access, but API calls are billed at these rates and do not draw from the plan's pool.
Grok Imagine does not carry Seedance 2.5; the comparison below shows what that model costs elsewhere for reference.
How the usage pool works
- One pool for everything. Every tier's pool is shared across Grok and Cursor; inside Grok it covers Chat, Imagine, Voice and Bot. "Usage costs vary by product", so a video and an agent run use different amounts.
- Weekly refresh. The allowance refreshes every week rather than every month, so a heavy day does not use up the month, but unused usage is not described as carrying over.
- Top-ups. When the pool runs out you can wait for the refresh or buy top-ups, which add usage credits. The subscription terms name Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, as the seller of top-ups and make them non-refundable except where the law requires.
- Remaining usage is shown in the account settings.
- Upgrades on the web apply at once; downgrades take effect as shown on the confirmation screen, and on Apple devices at the next billing cycle.
- Renewal and refunds. Plans renew automatically; cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Under the Bundled Subscription Terms (last updated 7 October 2026), payments are non-refundable except where required by law, and cancelling keeps the plan active until the end of the period.
Monthly or yearly billing
Yearly billing costs ten months of the monthly price on every paid tier: it saves $16 a year on Plus, $60 on Premium, $200 on Super and $400 on Ultra, about 17%. Because the pool refreshes weekly either way, paying yearly does not give you a larger allowance up front. The price per unit of usage also falls with each tier: Plus works out to $8 per Plus-sized pool, Premium $7.50, Super $6.67 and Ultra $4.00 on monthly billing.
X Premium in the same subscription
The X Subscription replaced SuperGrok and the separate X Premium plans. xAI's documentation says paid individual plans include X Premium benefits when you connect your X account, and the pricing page lists the X features per tier: the checkmark from Plus, ad-free scrolling on most surfaces from Premium, and X Money rates. Anyone already paying for X Premium for the checkmark gets Grok Imagine images at Plus, and video at Premium. More on the change in our news piece on the shared usage pool.
Is Grok Imagine free?
Image generation is, in a limited amount: the Free tier marks Imagine images as "Limited" and includes no video generation. xAI does not say how many free images that means. Video needs Premium at $30 a month or above, or the API, where a 6-second 720p clip costs between $0.18 and $0.84 depending on the model.
Which plan to pick
- Images only: Plus at $8 ($80 a year) includes Imagine images and X Premium features.
- Occasional video: Premium at $30 ($25 billed yearly) is the lowest tier with video, with 4 times the Plus pool.
- Daily video plus coding or agents: Super at $100. The pool is shared, so heavy Cursor or Grok Bot use eats into video; 15x Plus and priority access at peak times leave more room.
- Heavy use across everything: Ultra at $200 gives 50x Plus, the lowest price per unit of usage at $4.00 per Plus-sized pool.
- Predictable cost per clip: the xAI API, or another platform that bills Grok Video per generation. A subscription cannot tell you in advance how many clips a week it buys.
The same model elsewhere
Grok Video is also sold per clip by other platforms. Here is the cheapest published price for a 6-second 720p clip on each platform we track, each on its best plan:

Frequently asked
How much does Grok Imagine cost?
Grok Imagine is part of The X Subscription. Plus is $8 a month ($80 a year), Premium $30 ($300), Super $100 ($1,000) and Ultra $200 ($2,000). Teams starts at $30 a seat a month. There is also a Free tier with limited image generation.
Is Grok Imagine free?
Partly. The Free tier includes a limited amount of Imagine image generation, with no published number, and no video generation. Video starts at Premium, $30 a month.
Which plan do I need for Grok Imagine video?
Premium at $30 a month or higher. The pricing page's comparison table marks video generation as not included on Free and Plus, and included on Premium, Super, Ultra, Teams and Enterprise. Plus includes Imagine images.
How many videos can I make with SuperGrok or the X Subscription?
xAI does not say. SuperGrok was replaced by The X Subscription on 12 October 2026, and every tier draws from a weekly usage pool shared with chat, voice, Grok Bot and Cursor. Pools are sized as multiples of Plus (4x for Premium, 15x for Super, 50x for Ultra), but xAI does not publish how much of the pool a video uses or a maximum clip length or resolution per plan.
How often do Grok usage limits reset?
Weekly. The allowance refreshes every week, and remaining usage is shown in settings. If you run out you can wait for the refresh or buy top-ups, which are non-refundable.
How much does Grok Imagine video cost per second on the API?
The xAI API charges $0.14 a second at 720p and $0.25 at 1080p for grok-imagine-video-1.5, $0.07 at 720p for grok-imagine-video, and $0.03 at 720p for the 1.5 lite model. A 6-second 720p clip costs $0.18 to $0.84. API usage is billed separately from the subscription pool.
Is yearly billing cheaper for Grok?
Yes. A year costs ten times the monthly price on every paid tier, saving $16 on Plus, $60 on Premium, $200 on Super and $400 on Ultra, about 17%.
Does X Premium include Grok Imagine?
X Premium is now part of The X Subscription. xAI's documentation says paid individual plans include X Premium benefits when you connect your X account, so Plus at $8 gives the checkmark and Imagine images, and Premium at $30 adds video.
